Bawul Kim, DMD, is a dedicated general dentist who is passionate about providing comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages. He joined the Dahlgren Dental team in 2023 and is proud to serve the King George community.

Dr. Kim was born and raised in Seoul, Korea, and came to the United States for his undergraduate education when he was 19. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where he was awarded the Maroon Global Excellence Scholarship. He then went on to achieve a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.

While working at a Korean government-funded science and technology research institute, Dr. Kim’s participation in dental mission trips to Haiti and Uzbekistan sparked a profound change in his career path. Recognizing his passion for providing hands-on care and improving oral health, he transitioned from engineering to dentistry.

Dr. Kim went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. There, he gained a deep understanding of the interplay between biomedical, behavioral and oral health sciences. Dr. Kim’s comprehensive approach to dental care is supported by his commitment to ongoing education, allowing him to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and techniques in the field.

Dr. Kim’s favorite part about his job is being able to make a positive impact on his patients’ oral health and overall well-being. He loves helping patients of all ages achieve and maintain healthy smiles.
